About This Site

The purpose of this site is to provide information and ideas on alternative and international investment opportunities that will be useful to people who would like to know different ways of increasing their wealth and diversifying their portfolios.

I will endeavor to the best of my ability to provide good quality material and leads with good ethics and integrity. I will not post any material or comments that I would not find useful myself or that I believe may lead to anyone making bad financial decisions.

In terms of my personal background, I think it is important to note in the spirit of transparency that I am not a financial advisor. It is also important to note that I do not have any formal training in finance. My credentials are in other fields. However, I have had a longstanding interest and passion in international finance as a side interest. And I also have good analytical and writing skills.

My motivation for starting this site came as a result of having investments in three different countries and realizing that there are many small investors like myself who do not just want to rely on the investment opportunities in their own countries but see the world as just one big gigantic marketplace.

I was further inspired out of frustration of talking heads in various financial television channels and those who purported to be “financial journalists” who continuously mislead their viewers and readers in the lead-up to the financial meltdown and debacle of 2008 and 2009.

Many small investors lost their savings and investments while those who bore the most responsibility for the problems were bailed out. These incidents more than ever confirmed my convictions that every individual should take full control of their own finances, and not rely on talking heads they see on TV or on those who purport to be “financial experts”. Everyone should become the CEOs of their own own financial affairs. You can’t rely on Wall Street or the “financial” City of London or on your government. And, it is best to diversify your investments beyond the borders of the country you live in.

This is where this site comes in. Due to the advent of the Internet and other Information and Communications technologies, we all now live in what Kemechi Omae has termed the “borderless world”. And what others have termed as the global village. In this borderless world, information knows no boundaries. Specifically speaking, we now have access to financial and investment opportunities in most countries in the world. The financial and business systems in countries on every continent are intricately interconnected.
